customizable AI companion with real messaging

A crowded, high-churn AI companion niche where the real moat is LLM cost and content moderation, not the app itself — solo devs can ship it but rarely sustain it.

✓ Clear, recurring consumer demand: autocomplete signal of 8 and a steady stream of 'AI girlfriend' app-idea posts show persistent search intent.✓ The requested differentiator (real WhatsApp/email/call integration) is a concrete, buildable feature gap most existing apps don't offer.✓ No proprietary data or hardware moat — a solo dev can assemble LLM API + Twilio/WhatsApp Business API into a working MVP.

⚠ Extremely crowded market (Replika, Character.AI, Candy.ai, etc.) with heavy ad spend and brand lock-in; discovery cost for a solo dev is brutal.⚠ Ongoing LLM inference costs scale linearly with engagement, so unit economics are hostile without aggressive paywalling or cheap open models.⚠ WhatsApp/email/call automation violates platform ToS and invites bans, plus payment processors (Stripe) frequently reject adult-adjacent companion apps.
