Building a local PC app that uses AI to generate guitar tabs for songs with zero tabs online would you use this?

no guitar tabs for niche songs

Automatic guitar transcription is a graveyard of funded research and open-source models that still can't match a human ear, so a solo dev shipping reliable local tabs is a fantasy.

✓ Painful, recurring problem: guitarists routinely hit dead ends on Ultimate Guitar/Songsterr for niche, indie, and game soundtrack tabs✓ Local/offline processing is a genuine differentiator vs cloud transcription services, appealing to privacy and cost-conscious users✓ Clear, narrow target user (guitarists learning obscure songs) with an obvious monetization path as a paid desktop app

⚠ Core technical barrier is enormous: source separation plus polyphonic pitch detection plus fingering/position inference is a multi-model pipeline that even well-funded labs (Spotify Basic Pitch, Google Magenta, Moises.ai) haven't fully solved for playable tabs⚠ Accuracy expectations are brutal — guitarists will reject tabs that are even slightly wrong, and 'playable' requires instrument-specific fingering logic, not just note detection⚠ No traction signals at all (0 HN mentions, no GitHub, no downloads) and the post is a pre-build validation ask, meaning demand is unproven beyond one Reddit thread
